In 1978, during the height of the infamous Bush War, the government of Rhodesia commissioned the production of an official lighter for the nation. Due to limited trade and limited international knowledge, few of these lighters were exported and with the destruction of the Rhodesian government only a few years later, many of these prized lighters were destroyed or simply lost to time. Now, almost 48 years later, authentic Rhodesian items are rare and valuable, with the lighter being no exception. Described as “the holy grail hunt” on online forums, the infamous 1978 Rhodesian lighter commands thousands of dollars on Ebay when rarely listed:

During my trip to former Rhodesia last year, I spent a week hunting down this lighter in the markets and discovered one in poor condition. My team and I have analysed the design, digitized it and sent it off to the best lighter manufacturers to recreate it authentically. We’ve also doubled the weight for a premium feel in the hand and increased the fuel capacity. In addition, we are dedicated to shipping this lighter with a premium collectors box.
